A big 4” NiAl bronze self-priming pump with hydraulic drive has been released by Australian Pump Industries. Aussie Pumps is a major supplier of marine specific pump equipment and a service station for most Navy platforms.
The new Ni Al bronze pump, called the B4XR-A/B HYD, produces a maximum flow of 2200 lpm and can deliver up to 42 psi. It can also lift water through a vertical suction lift of 6m.
“Our new 4″ bronze self-priming pump offers a lot of advantages for the marine industry” says Aussie Pumps’ Chief Engineer John Hales. “The big water tank that’s designed into the body enables the pump to self prime. That’s a real convenience for the user and most vessels today have hydraulic capabilities so it makes sense to install hydraulic drive pumps.”
The hydraulic drive units are compact and offer flexibility for mounting in tight locations. Hydraulic lines are easy to install so ship and systems designers are not hampered by the need to accommodate shaft or belt drives. The vessel’s hydraulic drive delivers unlimited power and eliminates the need for a motor or engine to drive the pump. This makes the whole unit practically maintenance free.
BRONZE FOR CORROSION RESISTANCE
Unlike traditional cast iron, the NiAl bronze construction makes these pumps ideal for corrosive applications like handling seawater.
The pump comes complete with a top-quality mechanical seal with carbon/alumina faces, nitrile elastomers and 316 stainless steel seal casing. There is a Viton seal option available as well for applications like “oily bilge” pump out.
Hales went on to point out that the suction port cover is flanged. Removing the front mounted bolts gives convenient access to the pump internals for clean out if required.
The Aussie GMP bronze pump range has been awarded DNV certification and is used in a wide range of commercial marine applications.
Aussie Pumps expects the new bronze self-priming pump to have applications in barges, ferries, tugs, fishing boats and aquaculture projects.
