Over winter, Nathalia based poly tank manufacturer TTI teamed up with Aussie Pumps. They produced a new, super-compact, portable mop-up firefighting kit. The “Fire Guard 220” system can be quickly mounted on the back of a ute or trailer, or even relocated to a new location.
Pump Performance Key
The kit uses an Aussie “Quik Prime” QP154SX, described by TTI’s Jens Buchner as “a small firefighting pump with a big heart”. The Aussie Ultralite pump was selected because of its excellent self-priming, compact design and high performance.
The pump powered by a Honda petrol 2.5 hp engine, model GXH50. It weighs in at only 9.8 kilos but produces a maximum flow of 210 lpm and a maximum head of 60 metres. It also primes through a vertical lift to 8 metres. The engine and pump performance are superbly matched to completely eliminate any potential overload.
Features for Versatility
The pump can also be used to fill the tank from streams or dams. It comes with a five year pump warranty and is backed by Honda’s three year engine warranty.
The pump features a 1.5” flanged suction cover and a bolt on discharge elbow. This means either can be replaced if threads are damaged. TTI’s kit includes 18 metres of standard 1″ firefighting hose and an adjustable spray nozzle. There is a 36 metre hose reel option.
“Most operators will use the unit for mop-up work and all those other ‘on farm’ jobs”, said Aussie Pumps’ Product Manager, Brad Farrugia. “With almost 100 psi pressure capability it can be used to wash-down equipment, as well as fulfilling a wide range of other agricultural or horticultural applications”, he said.
